Baptism Ministry Team

Baptismal Preparation Ministry are a group of parishioners who help parents and godparents in the following areas:

  • Understand the meaning of Baptism
  • Embody their roles as leaders of children in their faith journey
  • Encourage parents and godparents to find different ways to practice faith in action and be powerful Christian examples to their children.

Members of the Ministry - Baptismal Facilitators need to be welcoming representatives of our Faith Community.  They need to demonstrate a strong desire to serve their fellow parishioners and share Christian parenting values.  A steadfast commitment to the Ministry is very important to maintain a constant schedule of classes and baptisms for our parish.

There are three (3) teams of Baptismal Facilitators at St. Matthew Church.  Each team teaches the Baptismal Class for parents and godparents and assists the Priest at an average of 3 to 4 times a year.

Training - New Baptismal Facilitators are required to observe classes and ceremonies for at least two (2) months before starting on their own.  Training is also provided at the Diocese of San Bernardino Pastoral Center.  All necessary resources and support are provided to you.

Baptism Class are taught on the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.  Baptisms are held on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 3:00 p.m. (May be subject to change if in conflict with Holy Days of Obligation)  For more information please contact Maria Macabales at mariamacabales@gmail.com
