Religious Education at St. Matthew - Come and experience the joy of passing on the teaching of the Church.
"Faith is strengthened when it is given to others!" Pope Saint John Paul II
The Religious Education program is for young people 1st through 6th grades. Classes are on Sunday mornings from 9:15am to 10:45am or Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Classes run from September through May. These classes are designed for faith formation before and continued formation after your student has received their first communion.
First communion preparation can begin when the student is in their 2nd consecutive year of Religious Education classes. Their formation shouldn't stop there! We encourage you to continue to bring your student every year until they have received their Confirmation.
We are always looking for confirmed youth and adults to share their gifts as Catechists (teachers) and Aides. We will train you and support you. Contact Raquel in the Parish Office (951) 272-3521 or raguilera@sbdiocese.org if you are interested in helping.
The catechist receives a call within a call. Answering the call of the Church to become a catechist (teacher) opens your life to a powerful outpouring of grace. We are not just deciding to embark on this journey with our students, but entering a union with Christ Himself.
